How might we...
- Practice/Emergence: How might we practice the five elements?
- How might we invest in community? How might we reimagine concepts of time?
Hypothesis
If we invest personal learning time in what it takes, then this will shed light on the practices, mindsets, and muscles needed to bring these practices to an organizational level.
Design
- Each commit to one example of how we have taken one step to build community and one way to slow down, whether its money, activity, etc.
- DO something that’s sticky around this time of the year. For ex, Victoria says she’s not doing Xmas cards & instead doing phone calls to build community.
Metrics
Success:
- less scheduled, more spontaneous face-to-face or virtual meetings/calls.
- Rapid responses from others when I’m in need, and from me to them, availability, without draining ourselves.
Min standards:
- calls/outreach from others to me, no FB as “enough community”
Failure:
- isolation, overactivity to the point that I can’t reach out to those I want to on regular basis, respond to phone calls in timely fashion, etc.
Learnings
- There is muscle memory in community building!
- Looking at time from a place of abundance and seeing it as the resource it is
- Focusing on the little practices, they accumulate
- Community, creativity, joy, collective
- Small changes holding a set of values = big changes eventually
Decisions
Bring learnings back to board to see what is next…
